Business Catering questions

Give me details on your sandwiches

All sandwiches are presented on "semi-disposable" black platters with lids, befitting a boardroom table. There is no nasty cling film. The sandwiches are made with locally sourced "farmhouse" white and granary bread, four quarters per person presented in a neat and attractive manner.

The sandwiches vary all the time but include, for example, the following fillings:
- Matured cheddar with homemade chutney of the week
- Yorkshire outdoor reared dry-cured ham and Colman's traditional strong English mustard
- Yorkshire grain fed free range roast chicken salad
- Classic locally produced free range egg mayonnaise and watercress
- Matured cheddar with Yorkshire outdoor reared dry-cured ham and Dijon mustard
- Pork and Leek Sausage, balsamic caramelised red onion and homemade chilli jam
- Yorkshire grain fed free range roast chicken, avocado, smoked pancetta and caesar dressing

We realise that some people don't necessarily want the "fancy-pants" sandwiches, so if you want some or all of the sandwiches to be plain, please let us know and we will oblige.

Do you use locally sourced ingredients?

At Salt's we truly believe in the getting hold of the best ingredients possible. For example: All Salt's Chicken is Free Range Chicken bred and reared on the Yorkshire Wolds. All Salt's Ham, Sausages and Bacon are from top quality Outdoor Reared Pork produced in Yorkshire. We use eggs from Wakefield, vegetables and lettuce from Pudsey and flour milled in Driffield amongst other local products. We are proud of this approach to our food.

Can I have more information on your "nibbles"?

We don't specify the "nibbles" in our written menus as they change from day to day to ensure our daily customers get different food each day. For example, amongst many other options in our Meeting Menu 2, we make:
- Homemade crostini (e.g. with goat's cheese, caramelised onion and pine nuts)
- Spinach and feta filo triangles with homemade yoghurt dip
- Lamb and chick pea samosa
- Butternut squash, chick pea and spinach parcels
- Mini quiche with assorted "fillings" (e.g. wild mushroom and brie or ham and pea)
- Homemade falafel with chilli jam
- Homemade onion bhaji with hot tomato chutney
- Yorkshire outdoor reared Pork Sausages with chutney dip

There are a lot of ordinary caterers out there who buy their "nibbles" from frozen wholesalers and "cook them off". We do not do that. Our food is made fresh by staff who are passionate about the quality of their food.

Do you make your own cakes and patisserie?

We provide a variation of cakes every day in our Menus 2 and 3. This is our specialisation, for which we have won awards and lots of praise.

Our catering differs from others in that we make all the sweet and sticky stuff ourselves. The variety is endless but our "staples" include carrot and walnut cake, chocolate brownie, cherry and almond tart, crème brûlée, chocolate and mango tart, baked lemon tart, blackcurrant frangipane tart and profiteroles.

What fruit do you provide?

We provide a fresh fruit platter with most of our menus. It would usually comprise strawberries, melon, pineapple and grapes.

Can you provide anything else?

We can supply many other options to your needs, which may include drinks, crisps or crockery - please ask for details.

What drinks do you supply with your menus?

Our "PLUS" menus comprise Chegworth Kent Apple Juices or Luscombe award winning sparkling drinks. These are delicious and different from those supplied by other caterers. Other drinks are available on request including Whole Earth Organic Sparkling Cans, San Pellegrino Arianciata and Limonata, amongst many others.

What other events can you cater for?

We do much more than the business meeting menus. We also cater for champagne receptions, parties and other larger functions. Please ask for more details.

How can I place an order?

Salt's online booking system is available for our business catering customers, enabling all the details needed to make a catering order to be processed with minimum fuss.

Once the order has been made, you can calculate the value for your internal purposes before sending the order to us. An automatic email will be sent to you with all the relevant details and we will always follow up with a further email confirmation that it has been put in our catering diary.

You are not obliged to use this - we are happy to receive your calls or emails, but this service serves as a quick checklist for you for all the information required to make an order.

Can you cater for special dietary requirements?

If you have any particular requirements, we are very happy to discuss these and accommodate them. For example, we cater for vegetarians (usually at least one third by default) and gluten intolerances with no problem. You specify your requirements and we will meet them.

Do you deliver?

All our food is delivered in refrigerated vehicles. If it is not refrigerated immediately after delivery, it is recommended by Environmental Health Authorities that higher risk items (broadly meat, dairy and fish) should be eaten within four hours if unrefrigerated.

Our minimum order is £40 and we do not charge a delivery charge - within a reasonable radius of our bakery in Leeds.
