Buffet Builder
Are you able to cater for dietary requirements?
If you have any particular requirements, we are very happy to accommodate them. For example, we cater for lactose and gluten intolerances with no problem.
We can cater for religious dietary requirements (eg with certified halal chicken).
You specify your requirements and we will meet them.
Do you deliver from the buffet builder?
All our food is delivered in refrigerated vehicles. If it is not refrigerated immediately after delivery, it is recommended by Environmental Health Authorities that higher risk items (broadly meat, dairy and fish) should be eaten within four hours if unrefrigerated.
Our minimum order is £300 for our buffet builder and we do not charge a delivery charge within a short distance of our kitchen in Leeds (broadly LS1, LS2 LS12 etc). We would normally apply a small delivery charge (to cover fuel and driver time only) if further afield depending on the size of the order and the time of day delivery is required. Please ask and we will incorporate this in your quote.
Do you provide anything else other than the food?
We can supply many other options to your needs (eg staffing, drinks service, crockery, linen). Please see ‘Additional items’ items at the bottom of the Buffet Builder.
How do I place a buffet builder order?
Salt’s online buffet builder booking system is available to help you, enabling all the details needed to make a buffet builder order to be processed with minimum fuss.
Once the order has been made, you can calculate the value for your information purposes before sending the order to us. An automatic email will be sent to you with all the relevant details and we will always follow up with a further email confirmation that it has been placed in our catering diary. We will also let you know if there will be a delivery charge to add and provide a quote for any extras you have requested (eg staffing or crockery).
You are not obliged to use this automated system – we are happy to receive your calls or emails, but this service serves as a quick checklist for you for all the information required to make an order.

Can I have more information on your "nibbles"?
We don’t specify the “nibbles” in our written menus as they change from day to day to ensure our daily customers get different food each day. For example, amongst many other options in our Meeting Menu 2, we make:
– Homemade crostini (e.g. with goat’s cheese, caramelised onion and pine nuts)
– Spinach and feta filo triangles with homemade yoghurt dip
– Lamb and chick pea samosa
– Butternut squash, chick pea and spinach parcels
– Mini quiche with assorted “fillings” (e.g. wild mushroom and brie or ham and pea)
– Homemade falafel with chilli jam
– Homemade onion bhaji with hot tomato chutney
– Yorkshire outdoor reared Pork Sausages with chutney dip
There are a lot of ordinary caterers out there who buy their “nibbles” from frozen wholesalers and “cook them off”. We do not do that. Our food is made fresh by staff who are passionate about the quality of their food.
Can you provide anything else?
We can supply many other options to your needs, which may include drinks, crisps or crockery – please ask for details.
Do you deliver?
All our food is delivered in refrigerated vehicles. If it is not refrigerated immediately after delivery, it is recommended by Environmental Health Authorities that higher risk items (broadly meat, dairy and fish) should be eaten within four hours if unrefrigerated.
Our minimum order is £40 and we do not charge a delivery charge – within a reasonable radius of our bakery in Leeds.
Do you use locally sourced ingredients?
At Salt’s we truly believe in the getting hold of the best ingredients possible. For example: All Salt’s Chicken is Free Range Chicken bred and reared on the Yorkshire Wolds. All Salt’s Ham, Sausages and Bacon are from top quality Outdoor Reared Pork produced in Yorkshire. We use eggs from Wakefield, vegetables and lettuce from Pudsey and flour milled in Driffield amongst other local products. We are proud of this approach to our food.

Other drinks are available on request including Whole Earth Organic Sparkling Cans, San Pellegrino Arianciata and Limonata, amongst many others.
What fruit do you provide?
We provide a fresh fruit platter with most of our menus. It would usually comprise strawberries, melon, pineapple and grapes.

Do you use locally sourced ingredients?
Where we can we use locally sourced ingredients or locally produced food.
At Salt’s we truly believe in the getting hold of the best ingredients possible. For example, we buy all our beef, lamb and pork from Yorkshire’s finest catering butchers (http://www.randjyorkshiresfinest.co.uk/).
Our milk and cream is from the Yorkshire Dales (http://www.dalesdairies.co.uk/) and our sandwich bread is baked in Leeds (http://www.bakersleeds.co.uk/).
We use free range eggs from Wakefield (https://twitter.com/churchviewfarm) and flour is milled in Driffield. We are proud of this approach to our food.
We are also keen on supporting independent businesses and try to use these for services and support where we can.
How do I pay for my catering?
Unfortunately we do not have the facility for customers to pay for their orders directly from our website.
Our standard method of payment is by BACS and our bank details are on all of our invoices. We would prefer you to pay by BACS please if you can.
Credit card payments for smaller transactions can be made at our discretion. Unfortunately we cannot accept credit card payment for larger invoices as the cost of this is too high for us (3.4%) and under legislation applicable from 13 January 2018, we cannot charge this on to you. Please contact us (0113 2435453 or info@saltscatering.co.uk) if you would like to pay by credit card for a smaller invoice.
Regular business customers are able to set up an account – subject to appropriate financial checks.

Unless you have requested crockery platters, all of our sandwiches are presented on “semi-disposable” black platters with lids, befitting a boardroom table. There is no nasty cling film.
What do we do with any plastic platters left over at the end of a buffet?
Unless you have requested crockery platters, all of our sandwiches are presented on “semi-disposable” black platters with lids, befitting a boardroom table.
The environment is important to us. These platters can be re-used many many times. They are also recyclable. Please wipe and rinse and we will collect them when we deliver our next buffet. We wash them, sanitise them, polish them and bring them back into use – avoiding single use plastic.
Unless it is a large buffet it is not economically viable for us to return immediately after a buffet to collect these platters.
Who makes your cakes, tarts and desserts?
We make all the sweet and sticky stuff in-house. We don’t buy them in. The variety is fairly comprehensive but our “staples” include carrot and walnut cake, chocolate brownie, cherry and almond tart, crème brûlée, chocolate and mango tart, baked Italian lemon tart, blackcurrant frangipane tart and profiteroles.
